Portfolio of Websites

The websites featured here have all been designed, created and maintained by Jon Jackson.

Being a freelancer, I have produced many websites for agencies as well as directly for clients. In this section only a selection of recent work is on show - please contact me if you'd like to see some more samples.

The Red Lion Hotel, Cromer website

Red Lion website screenshotThe Red Lion Hotel is a hidden gem - like Cromer, in North Norfolk; somewhat unknown, secret, and now seeing a new light-of-day. The Red Lion Hotel is over two hundred years old, unspoilt and in a great position overlooking Cromer's magnificent pier.

New owners wanted a revamp of a rather dated looking website and had been supplied a logo from another professional so my job was to work around that. A very minimal design gives the images maximum impact.

The JQuery zoom method is used for the image slideshows. Alongside the website, The Red Lion will use the Mailshot email campaign system to send Newsletters announcing events such as Special Breaks and popular events like the Cromer Carnival.

Jane Davidson website

Jane Davidson website screenshotClearly, as an Image and Style Consultant, Jane's website needs to reflect her own good taste and choice of style, images and colours. Very fortunately, we struck a happy chord quickly and the website was a joy to construct as the content flowed quite naturally into place.

The site has a blog-style front page, with introductory paragraphs which lead to full sections on Personal Shopping, Wardrobe Overhaul, Instant Style Advice and the many more services that Jane supplies. Each section expands using the 'accordion' menu method and is identified with a custom colour and pattern scheme. Heart-shaped 'stickers' are used throughout the pages and bind the styles together.

Jane's site integrates with Twitter and Flickr, to attract visitors and the Mailshot email campaign system will be used to keep in touch with Jane; subscribers can sign up directly from a link in the big footer on every page.

The Angel Inn website

Angel Inn website screenshotThe Angel Inn is a very fine 17th century Norfolk Coaching Inn, set on what used to be the main highway between Norwich and London, and now a short distance away from the busy A11. Nowadays, The Angel is well known for it's Restaurant, Accommodation, Events and of course it's place in the community as a good old fashioned pub.

The Angel's website is powered by the popular Joomla Content Management System - that alows the owners to control content. Site Administration is done via a web-based Control Panel where content is organised, added and edited using simple tools.

Alongside the website, The Angel use the Mailshot email campaign system to send Newsletters announcing events such as the popular Annual Beer Festival.

Breck Farm website

Breck Farm website screenshotBreck Farm is a working North Norfolk farm, in Weybourne, an area of outstanding natural beauty - well placed for a Camping and Caravan Park. As camping increases in popularity as a holiday option, savvy North Norfolk operators like Breck Farm are using the internet to promote their sites with great results.

Capability Campbell website

Capability Campbell website screenshotColin (Capability) Campbell is a Garden Designer in Surrey. For his new business, Colin wanted the website to introduce himself and his services effectively and with suitable style. The content is arranged in accordance with Google's Guidelines and carefully constructed to not only get the message across but to work well for search engines.

A contemporary feel is achieved by combining the ubiquitous and functional Din typeface and the ornamental Shelley. Decorated only with a lavish baroque drawing, the site is quite straightforward so loads quickly and works well across all platforms and browsers. The distinctive style is continued through Colin's business stationery and signage.

White Horse Farm website

White Horse Farm website screenshotWhite Horse Farm is a cluster of luxury holiday barns developed to an exceptionally high standard by owner Susie Hartley, in the heart of North Norfolk at Gunthorpe. Susie's vision was clear from the outset of the project, that the website should be the main source of information for the barns and that it would effectively convey their very high and special quality.

The site design and style came quite naturally as a neutral backdrop to allow maximum impact for the photos of the barns and the surrounding Norfolk countryside. As always, top quality photos are essential to illustrate the beauty and sophistication of well designed interiors - the slideshow/enlargement method used on this site works smoothly and quickly.

White Horse Farm's website rapidly acheived success with Google after its launch. Susie made good use of listing the barns individually on the popular Glaven Valley website; a surefire way to attract visitors to a North Norfolk website, especially in the accommodation field. That, along with detailed analysis and careful optimisation to ensure maximum popularity will doubtlessly maintain white-horse-farm.co.uk's high ranking in search engine results pages.
